The Apotropaic Rhino collage/pencil on foam 2020

The Apotropaic Rhino/Apocalypse Rider – the monster that swallowed Saint Peter’s Basilica and the muscular sculpture of Michelangelo. The work is the symbol of anxiety and a hybrid with a sinister character. It is another stage of taming the evil. The direct inspiration comes from sending a rhino to Pope Leon X by Manuel I, the consequent drowning of the animal and the delivery of its dead body. The work has got a timeless character and refers to the space understood as limitless memory.
